Chess improves concentration, memory, cognitive thinking and calculating ability. It also develops analytical skills, training the mind to plan ahead. Although fun, it is not just about winning. They will learn from their losses and become more resilient and how to stay calm under pressure. You will see them grow in confidence as they progress. Experienced Chess Teachers
My name is Mark Hogarth and I am a very experienced Chess teacher and Junior County Chess Selector. The Club is run jointly with my wife Hilary who teaches complete beginners from scratch until they are ready to be assimilated into the main group run by me, which will cover Openings/middlegame/basic endgames & checkmating patterns. We aim to get every child to a minimum standard and the best to County standard and beyond.

Entry to the club will be on a first-come-first-served basis Places will be going fast, so please apply early to avoid missing out. We will email you directly if a space becomes available and then we will email our payment details & joining instructions. Cost for the Term is £70/£88 for lunch time/after school. If you are in receipt of free school meals then chess is free.
